POTS
HISTORY
Pots originated
back in the late 1980's with 4 local businessmen
arranging to play a friendly game of golf on a Thursday evening,
every week throughout the summer. Other players were invited
due to the original members being on holiday or unavailable and
soon a regular 4 ball became 6 and then 8 and so on. In 1993 it
was decided to create a more competitive element to the golf and
a format which is still used today was agreed upon. Having decided
to go down this route it was felt we needed to create a name and
it
was decided it would be the Thursday Night Golf Society. It wasn't
until some years later when a challenge match against the Friday
Night
Golf Society was organised the name was changed to Pots which
stands for Professionals On Thursday Society, which had something
to do with the lack of professional players in the Friday Night
Society.
The society plays 22 Thursdays from early April through to early
September.
